Introduction

Kujaku Poetry is the web site of M. Kei, a Chesapeake poet working in the Japanese short forms (haiku, senryu, tanka, kyoka) and related forms. He is also the editor of the Kyoka Mad Poems email forum at Googlegroups and Editor of the Chesapeake Bay Saijiki (haiku almanac) at the World Kigo Database .

Kei is a true Chesapeake poet, as his white ancestors were among the first European settlers in the region in 1628 while his Native American ancestors have been here for thousands of years. When he can escape from making a living, he serves as a volunteer deckhand and docent aboard the skipjack Martha Lewis.

This page will include occasional posts of poetry, opinion, news, and general musing on poetry, boats, and life in the Chesapeake Bay.
